Why You Might Need to Add Users to Squarespace
If you’re working with a team, designer, or content writer, knowing how to add them is essential.
It allows you to safely collaborate on your website while maintaining control over who can edit, manage, or publish content.
Whether you’re inviting a contributor to make design changes or adding an author for your blog posts, Squarespace makes this process simple.
Step 1: Access Website Settings
Log into your Squarespace account and open the website you want to share access to.
On the left-hand panel, scroll down and click “Settings.”
Step 2: Open Permissions & Ownership
Within your Settings menu, find and click “Permissions & Ownership.”
This is where you can manage access for your contributors, editors, or authors.
Step 3: Choose How to Add Users
Inside the Permissions & Ownership section, you’ll see two main options:
Invite Contributor: Allows a user to edit and make changes to your website.
Add Basic Author: Grants access to write and publish blog content but not to edit the site’s design or settings.
Choose the option that best fits your needs. Once selected, Squarespace will prompt you to enter the person’s email address to send the invitation.
Step 4: Send the Invitation
After filling in the contributor’s email and selecting their role, click “Send Invite.”
The invited user will receive an email notification and can accept the invite to gain access immediately.
Conclusion
And that’s it! You’ve successfully added users to your website!
By managing permissions correctly, you can ensure smooth collaboration without compromising security or control over your site.
