Why Add Links to Images on Squarespace?

Adding links to your images is a simple yet powerful way to make your website more interactive and conversion-focused. You can use linked images to:

  • Direct visitors to a product or service page.

  • Highlight featured projects or blog posts.

  • Make banners, graphics, or portfolio items clickable.

Squarespace makes it quick and easy to connect your visuals to specific destinations on your website.

Step 1: Select the Image You Want to Edit

Start by logging into your Squarespace website and navigating to the page that contains the image you want to link.
Hover over the image and click Edit to open the image settings.

Step 2: Open the Link Settings

In the image editor, click on the second option labeled “Edit Link.”
This will open a new window where you can choose what kind of link to add.

You can link to:

  • An existing page on your site.

  • An external URL (like another website).

  • A file or document you’ve uploaded.

Step 3: Add and Configure the Link

After selecting Edit Link, enter or select the destination you want.
If the link should open in the same browser tab, make sure the “Open Link in New Tab” option is turned off.

Once you’re done, the link will save automatically.

Step 4: Test the Squarespace Image Link

Preview your page and click the image to confirm it leads to the correct destination.
If it works as expected, publish your changes — your linked image is now live.

Conclusion

That’s it! You’ve successfully added a link to make your visuals more functional and engaging.
This simple design touch can help guide users more effectively through your site and improve navigation flow.
