How a migration works
Inventory the old site
Every page, post, product, and URL is listed, along with which ones bring in traffic, so nothing important gets left behind.
Map the redirects
Old URLs are matched to new ones and 301 redirects are prepared, so links and rankings carry over.
Build on Squarespace
Content is moved over and cleaned up, often with a redesign in the same project, while your old site stays live.
Switch and monitor
Domain switched once everything is verified, redirects tested, and Search Console watched for errors in the weeks after launch.
Why businesses move to Squarespace
Most migrations come from WordPress sites that need constant plugin updates and security patches, or Wix and Showit sites the business has outgrown (here’s how Squarespace and Wix compare, and what a Wix move involves). Squarespace removes the maintenance work: hosting, SSL, and updates are handled by the platform.
The risk in any migration is losing search traffic. That risk comes from skipped redirects and lost metadata, not from the platform itself, which is why URL mapping happens before a single page gets built.

Your domain can point to Squarespace or transfer to it, and existing email through Google Workspace or another provider keeps working when the DNS records are set correctly.
