How to Hide a Page on Squarespace
To hide a page on Squarespace, drag it into the Not Linked section of the Pages panel, which removes it from your navigation while keeping the URL live. To also keep it out of Google, open the page's SEO settings and switch on Hide Page from Search Results.
Hiding it from your navigation
Open the Pages panel and find your page.
Below your main navigation sections there's an area called Not Linked. Drag the page down into it, or create it there in the first place.
The page is now off your menu but still completely live. Anyone with the URL can open it, and, importantly, so can Google.
That's genuinely useful for landing pages you only share in ads or emails, thank-you pages, and pages you're still building.
The step most guides skip
Not Linked is not private. It only removes the page from your menu.
Google finds pages through links, sitemaps and anywhere else the URL appears, and Squarespace includes Not Linked pages in your sitemap by default. So a page you thought was hidden can appear in search results.
To actually keep it out, open the page's settings, go to the SEO tab, and switch on Hide Page from Search Results. That adds a noindex instruction telling search engines not to list it.
Do both. Not Linked handles your visitors, the SEO setting handles Google. They're separate problems and people routinely only solve the first.
When you need a password instead
Neither of the above stops a determined person with the URL.
If the content is genuinely sensitive, like client work under NDA, pricing you don't want public, or a site in development, you want a password. Squarespace can lock an individual page or the whole site, which I've covered in password protecting a Squarespace site.
The rule of thumb: use Not Linked for pages you're happy for anyone to see but don't want cluttering your menu, and a password for anything that would be a problem if the wrong person opened it.
What's worth hiding
Good candidates: thank-you and confirmation pages, campaign landing pages for a specific ad, duplicate pages you're testing, seasonal pages that are out of season, and internal reference pages for staff.
Hiding thank-you pages is worth calling out. If they get indexed, people arrive at them from search without ever filling in your form, which corrupts your conversion tracking.
What's not worth hiding is real content you're embarrassed by. A thin service page hidden from the menu still exists. Either improve it or delete it, and if you delete it, redirect the URL so old links don't break.
Checking it worked
For navigation, load your site in a private window and confirm the page isn't in the menu.
For search, the change won't be instant, since Google has to recrawl before dropping the page. You can speed it up by requesting removal in Search Console.
To confirm it's set correctly now, view the page source and look for a robots meta tag with noindex in it. If it's there, the instruction is in place and it's a matter of waiting.

Does Not Linked hide a page from Google?
No. It only removes the page from your navigation. The URL stays live and Squarespace still lists it in your sitemap, so you also need to switch on Hide Page from Search Results in the page's SEO settings.
What's the difference between hiding and disabling a page?
Hiding, meaning Not Linked, keeps the page live but off the menu. Disabling takes it offline entirely, so visitors get an error.
Can people still find a Not Linked page?
Yes, if they have the URL, and potentially through search unless you've also set it to noindex. For anything truly private, use a password.
How long until a hidden page drops out of Google?
Usually days to a few weeks, once Google recrawls. Requesting removal in Search Console speeds it up.
